| CASA GUILLA Set in a matchless position amongst the Pyrenees of Catalonia, Casa Guilla (parts of which are almost 1000 years old) is the ideal place for those interested in birds, butterflies, plants and outdoor pursuits. This rural guesthouse is rustic but comfort, food and hospitality are all there in abundance.
Casa Guilla has been described as an ‘eyrie’; high in the clouds overlooking the valley of Tremp with spectacular views of lakes, fields, vineyards and villages. The birds of prey are always there, sometimes beneath, sometimes above and often very close. The wide variety of soils and plants in the area also guarantee a wealth of butterflies and moths, some of which are extremely rare in other parts of Europe.
The house itself started out as part of a medieval fortification and over the centuries has evolved into a farmhouse and now a guesthouse, complete with a uniquely situated pool. Animal pens and granaries have been transformed into guest accommodation. We have tried to keep as much as possible of what was here before in order to retain the original rusticity, which we feel is part of the charm in these old stone buildings. The atmosphere is relaxed and luxuries are simple but plentiful. Our overriding aim is to offer value for money.
Rooms have en suite shower/wc, tea/coffee making facilities and a small fridge. We limit the number of guests to a maximum of eight.
As we are twelve kilometres from the nearest town our prices include a continental breakfast and a full evening meal. We serve European country meals consisting of a soup, a first course, a main course, dessert with wine and coffee and brandy included. All guests eat together at the same table at 8.30 pm. We do not serve lunch but we can prepare packed lunches with filled baguettes or sandwiches.
We do recommend that you ask for directions because Santa Engracia is a tiny hamlet and is not shown on all maps. |

Directions
|
| Leave Tremp travelling north along C13 in direction of Pobla de Segur. Just outside Tremp is a petrol station on the right. Continue past. Turn left at sign to 'Santa Engracia 10 kms' approx 1.5 kms from the petrol station. The village of Santa Engracia is 10kms from this turn off. Just follow the road to the village. The road ascends, descends, meanders and ascends again, but eventually arrives at Santa Engracia. See website for detailed directions to Casa Guilla.
