| Garfagnana–Media Valle del Serchio is a wonderful still pretty unknown area of northwestern Tuscany, Italy. In this marvellous setting we have recently restored a group of farmhouses, which have been property of our family more than 150 years. Our accommodations are located on a hill at 450 m. asl, in a nice secluded place, surrounded by chestnuts and thorntrees, on the edge of a hamlet, named Guzzano, near Bagni di Lucca, which is a lovely spa-town at 25 km from Lucca, 50 km from Pisa and 85 km from Florence.

Carefully restored farmhouse on the edge of Guzzano, a lovely hamlet of the Lucca area, at 5 km from the spa-town Bagni di Lucca. Casa Ciesa al numero 4 comprises three levels, is about 105 sm, can accomodate up to 6 persons and be combined with our other holiday houses for groups or families up to 20 people. On the ground floor, a bright living room with fireplace, a separate WC+washing machine under the stairs and a lovely kitchen with spectacular views on the surrounding hills and mountains. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms with original beds. On the last floor we have a garret with original low doors (160 cm. high), which comprises two perfectly hinabitable rooms, i.e. a "fairy" bedroom with twin beds and a bath with shower. Outside, just in front of the house entrance, there is an exclusive garden (700 sm) equipped with garden furniture and barbecue, which offers stunning views over the adjacent valley. In Casa Ciesa al numero 4 you will find also: books, tourist brochures.

Things To Do
|
| Bagni di Lucca (at 5 km), is a nice tourist resort, where you will find general stores, shops, and sport centers (public swimming pool, tennis courts, chemist, supermarkets, etc.) and a beautiful spa known during the 18th and 19th centuries as a beloved destination for personalities and artists like Byron, Shelley, Puccini, Metternich and Radestsky. Traces of this glorious past are to be found in its monuments: the English Church, the Catene bridge, the Spa, the villas, the Casino, etc. The Casino was the first gambling house to be opened in Europe. It was closed in the 19th century, but during the last years it has been perfectly restored and reopened as a wonderful location for parties and wedding receptions. In our spa town you can find some good trattorias, where you can taste our traditional cuisine based on simple ingredients like mushrooms, chestnuts, sausages, stakes etc.
Enjoy beautiful walks, bicycle or horse rides on the hills around us, full of churches and Roman parishes: S. Pietro in Corsena, Pieve and San Cassiano di Controne, Montefegatesi, Casabasciana and Vicopancellorum. Nearby, Borgo a Mozzano and the Maddalena bridge, better known as the Devil’s bridge, the little canyon Orrido di Botri, the Garfagnana villages, Barga with its typical historical centre, Coreglia Antelminelli and its Museum of Plaster Figures and Emigration. Lucca (25 km), Pisa (50km) and the close Tyrrhenian coast, (or Versilia-Viareggio beaches, 40km) offer further cultural artistic and eno-gastronomical diversions. |

Directions

| Casa Ciesa al numero 4 is located on the edge of Guzzano, a country village of nearly 100 hinabitants near Bagni di Lucca, Tuscany. A narrow road drivable with small cars crosses it. Cars can be parked within our property or in case of medium-large ones on the village main square at about 150 m asphalted distance from our house, to be covered on foot.
Closest airports: Pisa (PSA; 50 km) or Florence (FLR; 85 km). Clostest train station: Bagni di Lucca/Fornoli (10 km). |
