| The romantic Reluctant Panther Inn & Restaurant is southern Vermont's newest small luxury hotel. With the completion of a major renovation in 2006-2007, the inn and restaurant have been transformed into a chic boutique hotel offering elegant accommodations and fine dining in a sophisticated setting. Set in historic Manchester Village with views of Mount Equinox, the inn is next to great shopping and diverse four-season activities— and convenient from New York City (4½ hours) and Boston (3½ hours.)

L ocated on the second floor of the newly completed Main House, The Akwanok Suite is named for the word by which Native American tribesmen referred to today's Equinox Mountain before the arrival of the Europeans. With its custom-made birch headboard and complementing night stands, the King bed is the centerpiece of this spacious and comfortable suite. A custom-built see-through fireplace separates the sleeping area from the comfy sitting room. Sporting village views, luxurious linens, and a two-person Jacuzzi-style tub, this suite is decorated in the style of the great camps of the Adirondacks, and includes the most modern amenities such as a wall-mounted flat screen plasma television with built-in DVD player and an iHome player so that you can bring your sound tracks with you.

N amed for one of Vermont's most famous authors, this suite is situated on the second floor of the Garden House. This secluded accommodation boasts a private entrance and interior décor that reflects Ms. Fisher's era-a light and airy bedroom is accentuated with a quaint (working) Franklin stove and memorable early editions of Canfield Fisher's work. T he Florist Suite, situated on the ground floor of the historic Mary Porter House, is named in honor of Manchester's Village Florist who operated his fine establishment out of these quarters in years gone by. The suite features a king bed in the sleeping area and a sitting room with comfy loveseat, antique writing desk and warming fireplace. The entire suite is prettily decorated; hand-stenciled roses add whimsy to the walls and delicate, embroidered pillows are strewn about on benches and chairs. C olonial French Captain Pierre St. Paul, Sieur de la Motte is credited with establishing the first European settlement in the State of Vermont on the shores of Lake Champlain in 1665. Named for this ambitious French captain who later became governor of Montréal, this large and luxurious suite is decorated in an appropriate colonial style. Taking up most of the North wing on the first floor of the newly rebuilt Main House, this suite is the epitome of luxury, featuring a private entrance off the living room and a private porch with a view of historic Manchester Village, two fireplaces-one in the bedroom and one in the living room-an amazing four poster bed (it almost requires a step stool to get into), a claw-foot slipper tub that is also a modern two-person spa, and a spacious walk-in shower.
