| Mairenui Rural Retreat is situated on a scenic through route from Mangaweka, on State Highway 1, to Palmerston North. The homestead is over 100 years old, set in extensive grounds planted with roses & rhodendrons, & with a backdrop of thousand year old native trees. We offer 2 ensuite rooms, the Garden Room & the Patio Room, each with their own verandah. Join us for an evening meal, drink fine NZ wines, & enjoy the company of guests from around the world. At Mairenui, we speak both French & German, & a little Italian. |

Things To Do
|
| On-farm tennis, croquet, petanque, farm walking, 4WD tour (weather permitting, extra cost), catch & release trout fishing on private stretch of river, river swimming. We also have a sport horse stud, & visiting the foals is a real pleasure!
In the area we can provide guides for trout fishing, & organise white water rafting, eco-rafting (gentle), kayaking, garden visits (the renowned Cross Hills Rhodendron Gardens are only a short distance away), & for the adventurous, the adrenalin rush of Gravity Canyon (bungy, bridge swing, flying fox) is not far away. |

| From State Highway 1 turn east just north of Mangaweka onto Ruahine Road (direction Rangiwahia). Follow this road for 10 kms until you come to your first big hill, & Mairenui Rural Retreat is signposted halfway up the hill on your left. |
