| Montplaisir is in southern Charente Maritime, part of the Poitou Charente Department, just on the edge of the town of Montendre and within a few miles of the Dordogne and Aquitaine.
Montplaisir is on the D19 and just 20 minutes from the A10 (and easy to find.) Both main roads to the South and Spain. It is ideal for a half way stopover.
We offer Chambres d’Hotes and traditional Table d’Hote evening meal.
Montplaisir is a lovely old house, built over 140 years ago. It is set in over two acres of lawn and shaded wooded areas. It is ideal for for lazing away on a summers day or enjoying wine by candlelight on a balmy evening. We even have a small, above ground swimming pool (21ft x 12 ft), to cool you off on hot sunny days
Close to local amenities it is an ideal location for holidaying or house hunting in this glorious part of France, either on a Bed & Breakfast or half board basis.
Everything is at hand, the area is swamped with beauty and history, vineyards (that produce wine, pineau and cognac), beaches, lovely countryside and a sense of well being.
Montendre caters very much for families and the facilities also include a nine-hole golf course and a beautiful lake and leisure complex sprawling amongst the pines at the edge of the forest with a beach and supervised swimming for the youngsters (July & August). There is also boating and quiet places to fish, picnic areas, an open air swimming pool, a children's playground and a restaurant. Royan, Angouleme, Auberterre and Talmont, Cognac, St Emilion and Bordeaux are all within easy driving distance.
Accommodation consists of four comfortable rooms in the main house (including a large family room). All rooms have their own ensuite with shower, wash basin and toilet.

Directions

| All the roads from the northern ports to the southwest of France and Spain lead to the A 10 motorway.
Leave the A 10 motorway at junction 37 and head for Mirambeau (about 2 km).
Follow the signs to Montendre (17 km) This is a straight run with no turn offs and takes about 20 minutes.
If you let us know the port you are starting from when you book we will be pleased to send you a detailed itinary for you to follow.
Eventually you come to a roundabout on the outskirts of Montendre. Take the third exit (D19 Jonzac). Montplaisir is 100 metres on the right. You can't miss it.
The nearest international airport is at Bordeaux which is 50 mins drive. You can hire a car or we operate an airport collection service for 15 euros per adult.
