La Merveille

| La Merveille is a large house and chambre d’hôte located in the heart of the Normandy countryside in the small village of Le Luot a few kilometres north west of Avranches. La Merveille has five bedrooms on the first floor, all with en suite bathrooms. There are two large family rooms, sleeping 5 and 6 respectively, and three double or twin rooms. All the rooms have been decorated in a modern style. For larger groups, further accommodation is available on the second floor with another large family room and one twin room. The house can sleep up to 28 guests. Two gites located next door and owned by the local commune can provide additional accommodation for another 12 people if required.
There is a good sized garden and pool that provides a safe environment for children, much of it given over to our animals, two ponies, a goat and a breton spaniel, who love any amount of attention. A swimming pool dominates the rest of the garden area with ample adjoining space for relaxing and enjoying the sun.
Guests have use of the extensive lounge and games room facilities, which include a pool table, table football and television. A continental breakfast consisting of fresh baguettes, croissants (with jams) and pain au chocolat is served in the lounge dining area. A wide range of cereals are available, also yogurt, orange juice and a choice of tea or coffee. On request, an English breakfast can be provided with bacon, eggs, tomatoes and sausages. An evening meal or snack is also available on request with barbecues organized in the warmer months. The barbecue area has a shady pagoda and ample seating. A petanque piste has been included and guests can try their hand at the popular game of boules.
The hosts have prepared a wide range of information for their visitors and can advise on, and book where necessary, such activities as a guided walk or ride across the sands to Mont St Michel, a day boat trip to the Channel Islands or the Iles de Chausey, or an evening at the finest restaurants in Avranches and the local area. Things To Do
|
| The house is an ideal base for reaching the excellent sandy beaches of Carolles and Jullouville. Mont St Michel is just a short distance south, and the delightful local market towns of Villedieu-les-Poêles, Jullouville, St Hilaire du Harcouët and Granville are within easy reach. Local shops are 10 minutes drive at Avranches and the nearest supermarket is a similar distance away. The D-Day landing beaches can be reached in 60 minutes via the Avranches-Caen motorway.

Directions

| From Caen
Take the Main Caen-Avrances/Mont St Michel/Rennes Motorway. (A84)
Stay on this road until approaching Avranches.
Turn off at Junction 36 as you approach Avranches and should be signposted to Le Parc and Plomb.
Travel back along the N175 – main Avranches-Villedieu Road (before motorway came)- until reaching Le Parc.
At the Le Parc turn LEFT for St Pience and Le Luot. (D39)
Travel through small village of St Pience and a few kilometres further enter village of Le Luot. La Merveille is the first building on your right opposite the Church.
