| Moss-Glen on Panton Hill.
Our sun-bathed studio-cottage with its fully self contained accommodation and outside bar-b-que for the exclusive use of guests, overlooks our natural native garden, full of grevillea and other native bird attracting plants. The surrounds are peaceful, quiet and tranquil.
Just one hour from central Melbourne, with close connection to the Western Ring Road and Tullamarine Airport, Panton Hill is a rural suburb on the edge of the Yarra Valley and close to Eltham and its Montsalvat artists colony and galleries. Local wineries abound and tourists are well accommodated.
Our fully self-contained bed & breakfast studio accommodation is newly renovated, comfortable, and with all facilities. A smoke free policy exists for the studio.
It is close to the General Store, Pub, School and Church that make up the major part of the village.
The studio is separate from the main house and consists of a main living room & kitchen with reversible air-con, colour TV, DVD & CD. The large bedroom has a queen size bed and a bathroom with shower, bath (with jacusi) and toilet. There is a second bedroom with a double bed (& trundle) to allow sleeping for 5 people.
The kitchen is brand new with stove, oven and microwave, fridge, cookware, crockery, cutlery and the outdoor bar-b-que assures a pleasant and quiet stay.
The studio is in a garden setting of natural bushland. The flowering gums and Gravilea’s provide homes for a wide variety of small birds within the garden.
The Panton Hill area is the ideal jumping off point for the Yarra Valley, with its wineries, food trail and racecourses at both Yarra Glen & Healseville.
Food, Produce and Craft markets are held each month at the racecourse, as is the regular market at Yerring Station Winery. Gulf Station is at Yarra Glen and features the National Trust renovated farm. The famous Saturday morning market at St Andrews, a must for fresh flowers, herbs and vegetables, plus brick-a-brack and crafts is only 5 minutes away. Kinglake, with its National Park is 20 minutes to the north.
Within walking distance is Melbourne’s closest genuine rural pub – The Panton Hill Hotel which has a real country atmosphere serving great meals, accompanied by a variety of local wines plus good cold beer and a lovely beer garden open during the summer months..
Hosts Audrey & John Ritter have lived in the area for over a decade, after spending 20 years in Eltham where they enjoyed the rural accent on outer suburban living, but craved for even more country in their lifestyle.
Weekend stays in the studio are priced from $280 for 2 people with children (2) able to be accommodated at $25 per head. Gazetted long weekends, (3 nights), are available from $400, and Easter and the long Melbourne Cup weekends from $550. Single night weekend stays are priced from $150, and single weeknights from $120. Longer stays can be arranged by negotiation.
To book, the completed booking form must be accompanied with a deposit equal to 50% of the tariff due.
Cancellations will be accepted up to 2 weeks in advance for a booking fee of $20. Late cancellations will be subject to a fee of 45% of the fees and ‘no-show’ forfeits all of the deposit.
Payment may be made by direct bank transfer, or cheques must be given 5 days for clearance by the banking system. Visa & Master Card is available for 5% admin fee.
