| A romantic thatched self-catering cottage situated in the Victorian village of Stanford, near Hermanus. There are glorious views of the mountains, and it is a short walk away to the banks of the Klein River, and the river meander. It is close to all village amenities, and the excellent local restaurants. The spacious double volume cottage consists of a downstairs bedroom with Queen-size bed and antique oak wardrobe. The upstairs loft room has a king size bed (or two singles) plus an additional single bed and shower room. The bed linen is 100% percale cotton, with woolen duvets, and luxurious bath towels. Provide own swimming towels. The downstairs bathroom has an authentic Victorian bath, plus an outside hot and cold shower area. An open-plan lounge and dining area is furnished with a mixture of modern and antique furniture, and features a large open fireplace. There is an extra bar fridge. The well equipped gourmet kitchen has an imported gas cooker, and opens onto a covered stoep with a built-in braai. The spacious garden has lemon, guava, mango and avocado trees, with off street parking. The outside laundry has a washer and dryer.

Things To Do
|
| The core of Stanford village has been declared a historical area, and it is one of the three architecturally best preserved villages in the Western Cape. The surrounding area is renowned for its magnificent fynbos, world acclaimed whale watching, and prolific bird life. The Birkenhead microbrewery and Raka wine estate are close by. The local cheese factory produces award winning cheese, and there are superb restaurants and interesting antique shops and art galleries. Canoeing along the Klein River, or a sunset river cruise. Slow down your pace and meander along the riverside trail, or take a gentle cycle through the village. Relax in a hammock and watch the clouds. |

Directions

| From Hermanus, continue on the R43 towards Gansbaai. At the village of Stanford, turn right into Queen Victoria Street, then second right into Longmarket street. Continue until Adderley Street, turn right and Lavenders Blue is the second house on the right. |
