| Platypus Lodge is a secluded 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house and sleeps up to 8 people. It has great views across Lake Tinaroo to Platypus Bay. Located 500m from Tinaroo Sailing Club it is perfect for visiting competing sailors, keen fishermen and boaters. It is just a couple of km from the dam wall and central to all the local markets and 10 minutes from Yungaburra. Wallabies and an abundance of birdlife frequent the garden. The house is has lovely timber floors and a well appointed kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, oven, gas stove etc. There is a washing machine & dryer and room for several cars to park in the parking area as well as trailer boats. |

Things To Do

| There is loads to do on the Atherton Tablelands. We are close by the weekend markets, the crater lakes, Curtain Fig Tree and tbe historic towns of Yungaburra and Ravenshoe. The climate up here is said to be "naturally air-conditioned". The rolling rural countryside is interrupted with tropical rainforests and volcanic crater lakes.

Directions

| Cairns via Gordonvale (sth route via the Gillies Hwy):
Drive along the Bruce Hwy to Gordonvale (20mins) Turn right at Gordonvale onto the Atherton Road (Gillies Hwy), Drive through Yungaburra towards Atherton and turn right at the Strawberry Farm onto Marks Lane, drive until the T-section with Tinaroo Falls Road and turn right, follow the road through Kairi and then on for approx. 3 km. Turn right into Black Gully Road, driveway is signposted on the left. (Approx 1 hr total)
Cairns via Kuranda (nth route via the Kuranda Range): Drive along the Captain Cook Hwy past the airport, stay on the Hwy past the roundabouts to Smithfield, turn left following signs to Kuranda, at Kuranda follow signs to Mareeba, at Mareeba follow signs to Tolga, at Tolga turn left at sign for Kairi, follow Kairi Road and turn right onto left onto Beck Road and proceed through Kairi and then on for approx. 5 km. Turn right into Black Gully Road, driveway is signposted on the left. (Approx 1hr:20mins total)
Townsville via Ingham (via Palmerston Hwy):
Drive through Tully and proceed 40km, turn left just past the caravan sales yard onto the South Johnston Road, follow road to Sth Johnston and turn right at T section in township, proceed 2 km to Palmerston Hwy sign and turn left, drive approx 45 km to Millaa Millaa, 22km to Malanda, then towards Atherton for 14km to Marks Lane , turn right, proceed 3km along Marks Lane and turn left then right staying on the B-Double route (Marks Lane), drive until the T-section with Tinaroo Falls Road and turn right, follow the road through Kairi and then on for approx. 3 km. Turn right into Black Gully Road, driveway is signposted on the left. (Approx 4.5hr total) |
