| This Heritage Guest house located just out of Huonville is not only one of the most important buildings in the Huon Valley, but also one of the friendliest places to stay in Tasmania. This Victorian gem sits on just over 5 acres of gardens and parklands, and is bounded by Mountain River. The house, gardens and adjoinging Oast house are listed with the National Trust and once played host to the Queen when she came to see the apple harvest, and took tea in what is now the Matilda Suite.
Matildas is a world unto itself and provides luxury accommodation in an old world setting. Guest rooms include spa suites, standard Queen and twin, all including a full breakfast in our dining room. We look forward to welcoming you to our home. |

Things To Do
|
| There is so much to see here in the Huon Valley, one night is rarely enough. We are fortunately placed among beautiful vineyards, restaraunts and lovely country drives abound. The world class attraction, Tahune air walk is a comfortable 45 minutes drive and a little further will see you to the Hastings caves and thermal springs. Take the road the other side of the Huon river and you will wind around to some beautiful channel areas, where you can catch a ferry over to Bruny Island. From cheese farmers to wool spinners, open rose gardens to forest walks, the Huon region has an abundance of beauty and vitality. |

This cottage room is located a few steps from the main house and operates the same way as the inside rooms. Delightfully fresh and charming, the cottage can accommodate twin share or a couple as it contains both a Queen bed and a King single in adjoining rooms. Directions
|
| From Hobart, follow all the signs to Huonville. Drive into the Huonville township and turn right at the roundabout onto Wilmott Road. Follow this road through the farmland and as you cross a bridge over a small river you will see Matildas on your right. Turn the sharp bend and the driveway is right there, across from the charming Anglican church with the tall steeple. |
