Brecon Castle Hotel

With the tower and walls of Brecon Castle located in its gardens, Brecon Castle Hotel is a heritage hotel of great charm and character. It first opened as a coaching inn in the late seventeenth century, becoming the first modern hotel of its kind in Wales after a complete rebuild in 1809. This late Regency hotel enjoys the best of both worlds – it has the look and feel of a quiet country house hotel but being located in private grounds on a prominent hill in the centre of Georgian Brecon town and enjoying beautiful riverside lawns and extensive views over the river Usk and up to the Brecon Beacon mountains. There is ample and free off-road parking for guests.

Privately owned and family run, the hotel combines a friendly atmosphere with efficient service and excellent, locally-sourced food in its cosy AA Rosette restaurant. Private dining rooms are available for conference and business parties. Facing southwards towards the mountains, the restaurant is an ideal place to relax and enjoy a gourmet meal at the end of the working day. The hotel has two large bars serving traditional pub food and local beers and ciders. We are members of the Just Ask and Slow Food campaigns.
