De Bloemfabriek B&B
In this old Flour Mill from the beginning of 1900 grain was ground to produce the flour for making bread. Then Zeeuws Vlaanderen was the grain producing centre for Rotterdam and Dordrecht. Mainly because it was easy to transport by sea and canals from the port of Walsoorden. The Flour in Walsoorden was produced in the beginning, by using Horse Power and later after 1911 by Steam driven machinery, at the time the most advanced method in the industry. In 1922 a big fire destroyed the mill, and the remaining buildings where later turned into housing for the local community.
There is a small beach area adjacent to the old ferry landing, wich is now enjoyed by many local and people and tourists. Who like to enjoy the sun and watch the constant flow of world shipping to and from Antwerp. From inside “De Bloemfabriek” you can sit and enjoy the panoramic view of the Wester Schelde while enjoying coffee or tea and biscuits.

‘De Bloemfabriek’ building comprises an Art Studio for Marjolein Innemee (www.marjoleininnemee.nl), an Art Gallery, and two room’s Bed and Breakfast.
The inner dykes and polder roads offer the tourists freedom to cycle, walk or drive and admire the beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Enjoy the silence and peaceful surroundings. Explore the wonderful old town of Hulst. The Land of Saeftinghe a nature reserve 7 km from ‘De Bloemfabriek’ You can take a guided tour from the informationcentre at the entrance to the Saeftinghe.
In a 3 minute walk you can explore the harbour of Walsoorden where you can watch the local shipping discharging their cargo’s.

‘De Bloemfabriek’ is none smoking, not suitable for little children and handicapped people.
