Klippe Rivier Country House
A magnificent Cape Dutch Country House, circa 1820, on the outskirts of historic Swellendam, two hours from Cape Town and the Garden Route. Once the family home of Presidents Steyn and Reitz, recall the gracious past with its spacious voorkamer and reception rooms where gleaming yellowwood floors enhance beautiful antiques.

Each of the bedrooms at Klippe Rivier has been named after previous owners. The original "Waenhuis" and stables have been converted into six of the most spacious and luxury bedrooms, preserving much of the original ambience.

Downstairs, three bedrooms have open fireplaces and walled-in herb gardens, dressing room and generous en-suite bathroom with separate shower and toilet. All decorated in the style of the original owners of Klippe Rivier.

Three loft rooms upstairs are under thatch and are decorated in a relaxed country style, offering wonderful mountain views and each has a spacious private balcony with umbrellas and loungers.

A charming and secluded thatched cottage is for the more romantic and ideal for honeymooners. Decorated in an eclectic African style with its own fireplace and private garden.

All bedrooms are air-conditioned.

Relax at the saltwater pool and enjoy the company of owls in the oaks.
