Property Description

 
The Deeside Hotel is a late Victorian residence set in an acre of grounds in the picturesque Royal Deeside town of Ballater. The house has been sensitively extended and the original building retains many of the original features.

Guests are welcomed to their rooms with home-made shortbread and Deeside mineral water. Books, cafetière coffee, fair-trade hot chocolate, herbal teas and a good selection of quality toiletries are also provided in all the rooms to make sure that your stay is comfortable. The ten individual bedrooms all have en-suite bathrooms (two with walk-in showers), direct-dial telephones, television and clock radio. Two rooms are on the ground floor offering easy access.

Our food is home made and where possible locally sourced. The emphasis is on good quality free range and organic produce and many of the herbs and salads are grown in our kitchen garden. We offer real ale and a wide selection of malt whiskies to be enjoyed in front of the log fire in winter or in the conservatory overlooking the walled gardens in the summer.

Secure fishing rod & bicycle storage is available.

Ballater enjoys a beautiful location beside the River Dee in Royal Deeside which is renowned for its splendid scenery. It is also part of the Cairngorms National Park which is Britain’s newest and biggest national park covering 3,800 sq km.

Things To Do

Excellent for outdoor pursuits of al kinds. 8 miles to Balmoral. 2mins from the river Dee. Ballater is an ideal base from which to explore the Highlands of Scotland and the numerous castles and historic sites of the North East of Scotland. It is just a few miles from Balmoral Castle, the Queen’s holiday residence and Braemar, home of the Braemar Gathering of the Clans and the Highland Games. For the outdoor enthusiast there is an enormous range of actives including golf, hillwalking, climbing, riding/pony trekking, birdwatching, trout and salmon fishing, gliding and cycling. In the winter there is ski-ing in nearby Glenshee and Lecht.

Directions by:

Train:
Rail services to Aberdeen. The bus station is next door to Aberdeen train station from where you can catch a bus to Ballater.

Air:
The Hotel is 39 miles from Aberdeen airport which has frequent flights throughout the UK.

Road:
Take the A93 road from Aberdeen and we are on the left hand side as you exit Ballater heading towards Braemar.

From Perth, take the A93 road to Blairgowrie continuing on through Glenshee and Braemar and we are on the right hand side as you approach the village.
