Things To Do

| New Zealand’s sunniest region, Nelson, is great for so many things! It has its own safe swimming beach at Tahunanui. You can head out to New Zealand's Abel Tasman National Park if you'd like to go sea kayaking, cruising, sailing. Walk one of New Zealand's Great Walks - the Abel Tasman Coastal Walk. Try river kayaking down the Motueka River in the Tasman region.
If you'd rather head for the hills there's the Richmond Ranges and Kahurangi National Park - home of the Heaphy Track. Day walks or multi-day alpine tramps are all found in these parks. Climb a mountain when you're here. View Farewell Spit from the top of Mt Arthur (and if you're lucky see some keas, weka, robin... on the way), feel like you're on top of the world and still be 'home' in time for tea.
Or visit the museum, enjoy the local artisans or sample some great Nelson wines, you'll be spoiled for choice.
Then there's horse riding, parachuting, quad biking, scuba diving, arts and crafts, bone carving, markets…
