the path to follow the Wall goes through the back garden .

Things To Do

visit Hadrian's Wall. the highest remains are a 5 minute walk from the house . the Roman Army museum is nearby Vindolanda fort which is most famous for it's fascinating archaeological finds including writing tablets , is a 10 minute drive. Housesteads Roman fort excavation is 9 miles and Birdoswald fort 3 miles . there are miles of footpaths and archaeological walks . 2 exciting National trust properties nearby and Lanercost Priory and Hexham Abbey are worth a visit

Directions

Holmhead is set amid fields and footpaths with a farm track aproach so its 1/2 a mile from the road
Greenhead village is on the B6318. just off the A69
1/2 way between Carlisle and Hexham drive between the cafe and youth hostel and follow the Hadrian's Wall Cycle track for 1/4 mile then change to farm track for 1/4 mile and you will find Holmhead in front of the ruined Thirlwall Castle
