John and Marian invite you to rent this 300 year old farm homestead ' Chestnut Cottage' which is situated on the McDonald farm at Lusmagh, Banagher, Co. Offaly only 1 Km from the River Shannon. This is the only rental property on the farm and is Bord Failte (Irish Tourist Board) approved. It was the original home of the McDonald family for generations. The Chestnut Cottage has been lovingly restored, keeping as much as possible of the 'Old World' character of the cottage while adding all the modern comforts. It is located close to the main farmhouse, in a nice farm garden with an orchard.Dogs welcome!
LOCATION:
The Chestnut Cottage is in the Galway/Offaly area, three miles from the popular riverside town of Banagher in Co. Offaly. The wide bridge which crosses the River Shannon to County Galway opens the way to tour the west of Ireland. Banagher is famous for its Irish music pubs, its river cruises, Bog walks and rail tours, great Fishing, (both coarse and salmon and trout.), Excellent super markets and shops, Restaurants, and Hotels. Most of the pubs serve really good food also.

| BANAGHER: You can enjoy a quiet drink or follow the sound of singing and traditional music to a lively pub session
or listen to distinctive sound of the corncrake on Banagher Bridge
ANGLING AND WALKING-River Shannon and Sliabh Bloom Mountains.
BOG RAIL TOUR: Clonmacnoise and West Offaly Railway gives you the opportunity to enjoy a guided 5.5 circular train-ride through a raised bog
Ancient Monastic Site:Clonmacnoise was founded in 545AD by St Ciaran. There is a modern interpretive centre and tourist office on the site.
Birr Castle Demesne:Features Irelands Historic Science Centre and also a wonderful garden.
Golf:There are at least five excellent golf courses within easy reach of Banagher.

For Children The cottage contains a cot and high chair and there is a swing on the chestnut tree for the children.
There is a barbeque area at the rear of the cottage in the orchard.
For the fisherman there is a lock up tackle shed with fridge-freezer for bait and equipment storage. The rail over the solid fuel cooker is ideal for drying wet fishing gear also there is some drying facilities in the tackle shed. Boat hire locally also bait and tackle.
You can have your fire lighted before you return from your days outing on request

April and October: €280 per week
May and September: €295 per week
June July and August: €350 per week
Rest of year: €265 per week
Midweek and Weekends €195-€230
A deposit of €100 would be appreciated when booking and the balance when you arrive at the Chestnut Cottage.
You will be welcome at whatever time you arrive at the cottage. But remember to allow time for the cottage to be prepared and ready for you. Usually 3 or 4 pm would be ideal.
The keys can be collected anytime suitable to you.

| | The Bedrooms
The bedrooms are two double rooms and two single rooms. Two of the double bedrooms can convert to twin rooms. If you prefer a smaller cottage with only one bedroom two of the bedrooms can be closed off. All bed linen and towals are provided and are included in the rental price.

The kitchen is well equipped with electric cooker, washing machine, fridge, microwave, iron, toaster, and coffee maker, Tea towels and washing-up cloths are provided.

The living room has an Aga type solid fuel range (peat turf is supplied free) There is a colour TV and dining and sitting area.

Directions
|
| From Banagher Town:
Take the road between Flynns shop and Flynns Pub. SuperValu Supermarket is also near Flynns pub.
You will pass the Banagher Concrete works.
Travel about 2 miles to Lusmagh Square,
(There is a church there with roads going each side of it, do not take either of these roads)
Follow the Victoria Lock signs.
Take a sharp turn right and immediately turn left.
The fourth house on the right hand side is the McDonald Farmhouse and also the Chestnut Cottage.
There is a long stone wall in front of the houses
Travel no more than 1 mile from the Church
