Things To Do
|
| Exploring in the old Huck Finn tradition is what they’ve come for. Mark Twain historical tour, a visit to the Mark Twain Museum, a tour through his boyhood home and many of the buildings offers the ideal itinerary. Shopping in antique shops, a new Kitchen Store and many art galleries may easily fill up two full days.
Then, take a self-guided tour through Hannibal’s historic neighborhoods or ride the trolley, or train (or should we say “twain”?). You can even enjoy a narrated horse-drawn tour on the Mark Twain Clopper. In keeping with its legacy, the Mark Twain Riverboat offers one hour narrated sightseeing cruises, presenting insight into the history and sights along the Mississippi. And for those who can’t go on a trip without a round of golf, Norwoods Golf Course, a public course offering reasonable greens fees, is nearby.

Garth Woodside Mansion offers eight large guest rooms in the mansion, elegantly appointed with Victorian antiques. Additionally, the Dowager Cottage offering a secluded and luxury oasis is available, and construction of two more cottages is underway. All of Garth Woodside Mansion’s rooms have private baths. Additionally, guests will find a hypo-allergenic featherbed on every bed. Rooms feature carefully selected fabrics, materials, and textures to blend with one of the finest 19th century furniture collections in the Midwest.
