Property Description

 
Situated in Fontenay, our old farmhouse is set in large very peaceful grounds. Two bedrooms available, one with double bed and one with two single beds. Shared bathroom. Upstairs lounge available for guests with TV or share with owners downstairs. We are situated between the towns of Mortain and St Hilaire du Harcouet (both within 10 minutes drive). The village of Fontenay itself is very tiny. We have outside areas for barbecuing or just relaxing.

Things To Do

Market day on Wednesday in St Hilaire is bustling and the market is very large. There is a good selection of bars and cafes. The market in Mortain is on Saturday. Both St Hilaire and Mortain have swimming pools. We are 40 minutes away from Mont St Michel and just over an hour away from St Malo. The D Day landing beaches are within 90 minutes drive. There is a leisure park about 30 minutes at St Martin de Landelles. Bungee jumping is available near Vire in the Summer months and is an easy drive away. Villedieu, which is a town full of copper and pewter shops, is less than one hour away. There are plenty of walks in the area and a very large forest about half an hour away.

Directions

From Caen (Ouistreham) ferry port take the Peripherique and exit at junction 9a onto the A84. Head for St Hilaire and exit at junction 33. Follow the signs for Ducey and then St Hilaire. At the main traffic lights in St Hiliare turn left and follow the signs for Mortain. After approximately 10 minutes driving, there is a two lane stretch of road. At the top of the hill turn left to Fontenay. Go to the end of the road, turn left and immediately right at the Mairie (Mayor's office). Turn right again behind the Mairie and stay on the road until the very end when you can't go any further. From all directions, look for Rennes and then Vire or St Hilaire.
