Things To Do

El Almendro is 10km from the turquoise waters of Embalse de los Bermejales. A stunning lake surrounded by hills and mountains. During summer there are some watersports at the lake. To reach the lake from Cacin you travel alongside a stunning gorge etched honey coloured rock. Alhama de Granada, features the hot springs favoured by the Romans and the Moors. You can visit these today and experience more modern spa treatments. Alhama is a bustling market town with plenty of bars, restaurants and a few nightclubs. The old part of the town, churches and gorge are well worth a visit. Granada is 35km away, which makes El Almendro a great base for visiting the city and the world famous Alhambra. In the winter you can be on the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada in about an hour. Guided walking and cycling days can be arranged or simply bike hire and walking maps can be organised for those who want to go it alone. The area features some stunning countryside and the birdlife is abundant.

Directions

From Granada airport take the A92 towards Granada, take exit 211 to Moraleda de Zafayona, follow the road through Moraleda until you pass a church on the right hand side, take the left turning here, signposted El Turro and Cacin. Go through El Turro then in 10km take the left turn over the bridge and into Cacin. Go past the church on the left and take the second left. At Plaza Maestro Manuel Almendros, El Almendro is on the right hand side of the square, opposite the Town Hall.
