La Chardière

Our south facing house has beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. The accommodation offers two double bedrooms with en-suite facilities (towels provided) or our family suite sleeping up to six people. Tea and coffee making facilities in each room.
A continental breakfast is included in the price but for those with a larger appetite we can provide, by prior arrangement, a full English breakfast at 8€ each. Evening meals can also be provided by prior arrangement.

A separate lounge area with TV and DVD player is available for the use of guests. A football and pool table are also available for your further entertainment.

La Chardière is situated a short walk from the centre of Gathemo. Here you will find a bar/tabac where you can meet the locals. The Boulangerie, situated just opposite, provides fresh bread each day and a very tempting selection of cakes and pastries!
For the workaholics internet access is available.

Things To Do

Coast/Beach The historic D-Day landing beaches and museums are just North of Caen, approximately an hour away. Granville is approx 1 hours drive away and perfect for the seafood lover. If you are looking for a base to explore the fabulous Normandy countryside and mysterious villages which it conceals, or you just need some time to re-charge your batteries, La Chardière will provide the perfect surroundings. A short drive away is Lac de la Dathee, with beautiful views over Vire and has something for everyone. There is a sailing school, wind-surfing and fishing. Walks around the lake are perfect for picnics and summer relaxation. Overlooking the lake is the 9 hole golf course of the Golf de Vire complete with driving and practice range. A 4x4 drive centre and several equestrian centres are nearby. Day trips within easy reach include the medieval town of Domfront, gothic spires of Le Mont St Michel, the historic D-Day landing beaches, the thermal spa town of Bagnoles De L'orne and the famous Bayeux tapestry.

Directions

How to Find Us:

From the roundabout in the centre of Vire head South on the D577 towards Sourdeval (Rue Deslongrais). At top of Hill after 0.8 miles, bear Right (West) onto D76 signposted Gathemo and St.Pois. Follow road for 5 miles. Road name changes to D55.
Follow road for further 1.6 miles to Gathemo.

At cross roads in Gathemo turn left on to D39 towards Vengeons.

On D39 proceed out of village 150 yards to end of Gathemo sign and immediately take left turning (signposted La Chardière).

Proceed uphill for further 100 yards to where road forks. La Chardière is situated at the fork in the road.

To Vire from Caen
From Caen head Southwest on A84 for 20 miles. At junction 42 keep right onto ramp for 0.2 miles towards Vire/Jurques.
At roundabout take fourth exit onto D577 for 16 miles.
At roundabout take N174 for 2 miles to the centre of Vire
