A romantic stay at Buttercup Cottage is guaranteed to relax your state of mind and body. Coupled with an in-house massage - available by prior arrangement - you will certainly have a different outlook on life when it’s time to continue on your holiday.

Buttercup has been described as “home away from home”. There’s all you need for a reclusive escape or energetic exploration of this fantastic part of Victoria.

Fully self contained, you can look after your own dining needs or we can supply you with ingredients for some pretty tantalising breakfasts. In the cottage and the private apartment, you’ll find corner spa baths, wood fires, heater/air conditioners, private barbecues and verandahs which allow scenic views of the mountains across farmland.

Buttercup also provides you with private barbecues, dishwashers in the kitchen and washing machine and tumble drier - these two are boringly important when travelling!

Things To Do

The district has a rich heritage of horsemanship and to this day horse riding experiences are offered to visitors often from riders who featured in the Man From Snowy River Movies. The scenic nature of the area allows for some excellent photo opportunities. For instance sunsets from Buttercup are pretty spectacular from time to time. Alternatively a trip into the mountains, either self guided or with one of the experienced four wheel driving touring companies, will present you with many chances to expand your photograph collection. You might choose to try your hand fishing in one of the mountain streams, boating on Lake Eildon or Lake Nillahcootie, or perhaps bush walking following the nordic ski trails which wend their way across and around Mt Stirling. A day walk from Mt Buller to Mt Stirling and return has some great rewards. And followed by a relaxing spa in the evening, you will be well satisfied with your achievement for the day.

The private apartment Queen room offers a comfortable night's sleep for guests also. Ideal for families, the apartment is cosy and quiet.		Room Rate

Cottage Queen
The queen sized bed in the master bedroom will be sure to provide you with a good night's sleep. Aided by a soak in the corner spa after a day's sightseeing you'll be well rested in the morning. Directions

2.5 hours from Melbourne
From the western or northern suburbs take the Hume Freeway to the Tallarook exit. Follow signs to Yea. At Yea follows signs to Mansfield. At Mansfield follow signs to Mt Buller. At 15 km mark out of Mansfield take Buttercup Rd to the left for 3 kms. Buttercup Cottage is on the left hand side.
From the southern and eastern suburbs take the Maroondah Highway to Coldstream. At Coldstream take the Melba Highway to Yea. Follow the signs to Mansfield, then to Mt Buller. At 15 km mark out of Mansfield take Buttercup Rd to the left for 3 kms. Buttercup Cottage is on the left hand side.
271 Buttercup Rd, Merrijig is 18 kms east of Mansfield on the way to Mts Buller and Stirling. 10 minutes from Mt Timbertop. 20 minutes from Lake Eildon at Goughs Bay.
