Hitgeheim Country Lodge is an owner managed lodge situated close to Addo Elephant Park on an eco-reserve which is also home to an unique buffalo-breeding project. Approaching the Lodge you cross the Sundays River, drive through scented citrus orchards, passing ostriches peacefully attending to their nests, sable minding their own business, Cape Buffalo lazing their days away, eland curiously observing the passersby and zebra obstructing the road that takes you through the thicket to the Lodge. At arrival you are warmly welcomed into this place of peace and tranquility. The quietness, stylishly appointed chalets with extra-length beds draped in romantic mosquito nets with crisp white percale linen, luxurious bathrooms with outdoor showers and private wooden decks with sweeping views invites you to relax and unwind completely. Fine dining with traditional cuisine and unique ‘story telling’ wines from the walk-in wine cellar will ensure that dining is an unforgettable experience. Things To Do

Personalised game drives to Addo Elephant Park on our private open-top safari vehicle. Guided day visits to Schotia and Pumba Private Game Reserves arranged. Farm tours which include an introduction to the Buffalo Breeding Project. Bush walks on the reserve where guests come face to face with the indigenous antelope species (plains game).

Directions

Take N2 from Port Elizabeth to Grahamstown.
Turn left onto R335 (Markman/Motherwell/St Georges) to Addo (+-45km).
Travel through village of Addo and turn left onto R336 towards Kirkwood.
6km from Addo turn left onto gravel road, 800m turn left, immediately right - 1km to entrance.
