| Bramble Cottage on Glen Faye Farm Glen Faye lies 15 kms out of Knysna on the Rheenendal Road close to the historical gold mines and pristine forest reserves, home to the last surviving Knysna elephants. Within the reserves are wonderful forest walks, biking trails and picnic spots alongside enchanting streams.
Mountain views, indigenous forests and green pastures surround the farm, a tranquil place for you to relax away from the bustle of the city, a birder friendly place where care is taken to enhance the birding potential of the area and your enjoyment of it. There are a number of paths leading to quiet spots in the fynbos. Take a book or binoculars and soak up a few precious moments with nature. Wander down to the Glen early in the morning and chances are you’ll see monkeys, bushbuck or wild boar. In the evenings you’ll quite often experience the most exquisite sunsets. Take a glass of wine and a few snacks. You’ll love it.
Enhance your vacation with an enjoyable activity. Whether learning an art or craft, bird watching, horse riding on beach or in forest, paragliding or golfing on a first class course, we have a list of contact numbers to make the connection effortless. Spend a night exploring the taverns and restaurants on the waterfront, then come home to your cottage and sleep as late as you like. This is Knysna and you’re on holiday. At Glen Faye Farm we are kept pretty active with growing Blackberries & Figs and making Cheese and dry cured Ham and Bacon. In season fresh fruit is available and out of season we always have a stock of Blackberry Jam, Fig Jam and Green Fig Preserve. Bramble Cottage is tucked in amongst the fynbos and old gum trees. The traditional Cape architecture incorporates long verandahs for all seasons with enclosed built-in braai facilities for those rainy days. There are two en-suite Bedrooms (one with Queen-size bed, the other with 2 singles) and an open plan lounge/dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering with gas stove, microwave oven, kettle, toaster etc and a Mongolian braai plate for the barbeque. The living area has a cozy log-burning fireplace for winter evenings (firewood is supplied free of charge) and a Hi-fi with a selection of fine music CDs, instead of TV, to encourage the romantic in you.
