|
|
| Castlemaine is a delightfully historic old rambling inn located right in-town Bar Harbor. George Newman who loved Maine settled in Bar Harbor and built this home in 1886. It later became the summer residence of the Austro-Hungarian ambassador and his wife, the Baron and Baroness Hengelmueler.
This Bar Harbor B&B has been upgraded with a sprinkler system and elegantly appointed rooms and suites all with private baths, cable TV, VCR/DVD, free high speed internet access, air conditioning, king or queen bed, and decorated with fine linens. Some rooms have whirlpools, balconies, and fireplaces. Antiques are found throughout the inn. The Castlemaine Inn B&B is a quiet and relaxing 19th century home that will make your vacation a memorable island retreat.
Castlemaine Inn B&B is a smoke free and pet free property.
Castlemaine has off street free parking and is conveniently located within one to four blocks of dozens of fine restaurants and shops. You can easily walk to these and other attractions such as the whale watch, canoe rental, bike rental and the Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park free shuttle service that goes all over the island.
We are open May through October.
