Hidden away among stands of old cork oaks you will find the (licenced 'turismo rural') country retreat Verdemar (17 hectare). The old tavern has been completely restored by (Portuguese) Nuno & (Dutch) Christine, your hosts. Nuno is a professional cook and artist, Christine a furniture restorer. They offer 11 cottages, 7 en-suite rooms, and 4 self-catering houses, all with their own unique touch and Nuno's paintings. The large garden offers lots of shade, hammocks to while away, and a salt water pool.

A perfect place to relax and feel at home, and to discover the countryside and coast of the Alentejo, by foot or car. Enjoy a leisurely Alentejan breakfast, with home made jams, fresh cheese and fruit from the garden, as you plan your day ahead. In the evenings you can look forward to a plentiful dinner cooked by 'chef' Nuno with fresh ingredients from his biological garden, in the summer 'al fresco'; in the winter near the fireplace. For relaxing: beach, pool, reading or activities as surf, walking, birdwatching, tours by car.
