Khusela Private Game Reserve
Known to some as ‘simply paradise’, Khusela is unique. Developed as a private conservation reserve, some of South Africa’s most endangered, threatened and protected species are now free to roam safely without predators.

The thatched South Africa luxury villa was designed by the internationally renowned architect Francois Thereon for the English owners and completed in 2006. The game reserve and villa are now available as an exclusive letting to discerning guests who are looking for something more than a tourist game lodge or conventional villa for their South Africa luxury holiday.

Guests can walk, or have the use of two 4x4 Yamaha Rhinos, to explore the game reserve safely on their own, a game ranger to take guided walks or game drives on a Toyota land cruiser, chef to prepare all the meals to order and a house keeper to pamper them.

Things To Do near "Khusela Private Game Reserve" in Grahamstown
It is not uncommon to be the only person enjoying the nearby miles of sandy beaches and exhilarating walks can take you past rock pools and the highest sand dunes south of the Kalahari. The Bushmans River can be navigated for more than 30 kilometres and river trips can be arranged as well as self drive 15hp speed boats. The river passes through the Kariega Game Reserve and rhinos are frequently seen from the river. Pumba and Kariega Reserves are Big 5 neighbouring game reserves and day drives or night game drives can be arranged for Khusela guests looking for sightings of lion, elephant, rhino, cheetah and buffalo. The leopard is as elusive as ever, with sightings being rare in most of the reserves. Addo National Park, just an hour's drive away, now extends to the coast and claims to be the only Big 7 reserve by adding whales and dolphins to the list of animals to be seen - if you are lucky! The reserve has dense vegetation which restricts game viewing but Addo does have a high elephant population. Game viewing This South Africa game reserves is home to a variety of endangered, threatened and protected species including a breeding herd of Oribi, South Africa's rarest antelope with less than 900 surviving animals; these small and elegant antelope will not be seen in any of the Big Five reserves. A herd of Bontebok, a species that was reduced to 100 animals not many years ago is breeding well, while Common Reedbuck (which is actually the protected species, the Mountain Reedbuck is the common one!) and Black Wildebeest, also on the protected list, are well established. Roaming with these is a herd of the beautiful Sable, which because of their high value are not seen in the Eastern Cape's Big Five reserves as they could provide very expensive meals for lions! Nyala, kudu, zebra, giraffe, duiker and red hartebeest also help keep the natural balance of the vegetation.
