This bright contemporary guesthouse nestles high against the Hermanus mountain with sweeping views of Walker Bay. Close by is the 27-hole golf course, while Arabella is a mere 20 minutes’ drive away.

The décor is unfussy and modern, with white American blinds ensuring cool privacy. The ground-floor lounge opens onto the Karoo stone barbeque area and splash pool with tumbling water feature on one side and a terrace overlooking the golf course and the ocean on the other. The top-floor bar lounge, equipped with a 60“ plasma TV with all DSTV channels, has its own sea-view terrace while also giving access to a rooftop deck where 360° views of mountain and sea can be enjoyed.
Guests can use the internet facilities in the library or relax on its mountain-view terrace, where gently cascading waterfalls convey a sense of peace and tranquillity. The temperature-controlled walk-in wine cellar is stocked with the finest wines from local estates.
All the luxury suites have extra-length king size or twin beds with fine percale bed linen and supersoft allergy-free duvets. Each fully automated room is equipped with a bar fridge, tea & coffee tray, flat screen TV, international adaptor, mini safe, hairdryer, WiFi internet and iPod station. The bathrooms have a bath, shower, twin washbasins, heated towel rails, cotton gowns and Charlotte Rhys toiletries.
The village centre with its many boutiques, bookshops, coffee shops, restaurants, markets, art galleries and museums is a 5-minute drive away.
Hermanus is one of the world’s top land-based whale watching destinations. The Southern Right whales visit our shores between the months of July and December.
Rich in fynbos and bird life, Hermanus has much to offer the outdoor enthusiast. Lovely hikes and picnic spots abound along with pristine beaches, amongst which is the famed blue flag Grotto Beach, just a 5 minute-drive from Selkirk House.
Wine lovers can visit estates in the Hemel & Aarde Valley and other regions like Stanford and Bot River.
