Centrally located on a quiet residential street in downtown Chicago's upscale (and safe!) neighborhood, The Aster House offers an ideal starting point for exploring the city.
Aster House is 1/2 to 2 blocks from shops, cafes, restaurants, theatres, movies, museums, music venues, art galleries, the post office, the library, dry cleaner, free tennis courts, DePaul University, a late-night pharmacy, a park and playground right out back, an ice cream cafe, three Starbucks and for any jet-lag there's a 24-hour grocery and a 24-hour restaurant also within a block.

It's 4 - 8 blocks to the free city zoo and botanical gardens, two farmers' markets and the lake/beach. Wrigley Field is a delightful 10-block walk.

And we're 1/2 -1 block from the subway/el, taxicabs, free summer trolley and several buses to reach all the rest of the city's attractions.
The house is large and luxurious, beautifully decorated with fine 19th century American and European antiques and reproductions. It has a back yard, a covered porch with rockers and large sundeck with umbrella table, chaise and grill.

Every modern amenity has been added for the complete comfort of our guests, including air conditioning, ceiling fans, cable television, high-speed Internet and free secured Wifi throughout the inn, even on the sundeck.

The main apartments, Elizabeth's Place and Alice's Annex share a connecting door to convert to one huge unit to sleep up to 12, or may be booked separately. Kristina's Suite sleeps 2 more.

*Elizabeth's Place* has a living room with television and VCR player, a formal dining or conference room that seats twelve, a book-filled study with stereo, bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower, two phone extensions with answering machine, and an eat-in kitchen with first-rate appliances, e.g. Sub Zero refrigerator and Corian counters and sink and an en-suite complimentary front-load washer and dryer. There is one bedroom with a queen bed, one with a full and there's a deluxe full-size futon bed in the study, to sleep up to six guests.

*Alice's Annex* is a complete garden apartment. It has a living room, book-filled study, stereo with in-wall speakers, kitchenette, sitting area with television and VCR, dining nook, bathroom with tub and shower, complimentary washer and dryer, two phone extensions with answering machine, and a private entrance. It offers three beds as well -- a queen bed in the bedroom, a queen sleeper sofa and a single bed in a sleeping nook off the living room to sleep up to five guests and we can add another single bed in this unit.

All stays include local phone calls and easy street parking for your car.

Please note that we allow NO smoking in any of our properties, although smokers may use the porch or sundeck.
